note:  Left unfinished at the time of Raphael's death in 1520, The Transfiguration has been documented to show extensive work by other hands (most likely Giulio and perhaps also Penni). Baldassare Castigilione wrote to Popel Clement VII on 7 May 1522 to politely request the final payment for this work to be disbursed to Giulio Romano - "i quali essi al presente non dimanda né vuole, ma per aver una sua soreall grande alla quale già ha ritrovato marito, se avesse il modo di darle la dote" - and the credit was received by Romano latet that year: "Giulio dipintore di contro dee avere ducati 224 d'oro di camera, facciamoli buoni, oper conto della tavola da altare dipinta da maestro Raffaello. . . " (Ferrara 1992, p. 24 and 28). Another series of payments - in increments of 50 ducats per month - began on 18 January 1526 "delli ducati 200 che restò havere Raphaello da Urbino per conto della tavola . . . " (Golzio 1936, p. 157; Ferrara 1992, pp. 117-118). https://www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en/collezioni/musei/la-pinacoteca/sala-viii---secolo-xvi/raffaello-sanzio--trasfigurazione.html
